Easy hike in the Dolomites:
Val Fiscalina to Rifugio Fondovalle
If you are just starting your South Tyrol vacation and looking for an easy hike to “warm-up” I can highly recommend to head through the Fischleintal to the Rifugio Fondovalle (Talschlusshütte).
In addition to that, you are will also find more demanding hikes here. The Fischleintal is starting point for one of the most beautiful hikes up to the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Die drei Zinnen).

Destination: Rifugio Fondovalle

Altitude difference: 260 meters up, 260 meters down
Distance: 12,5 km
Duration: about 3,5 hours
The “hike” is actually a nice and easy walk through bright green meadows. You will find grazing cows and horses along your way, while you are heading to the massive mountainside in front of you – a true paradise.
Along the way you will continuously be rewarded with great views.
The actual destination of this hike is the Rifugio Fondovalle (Talschlusshütte), which is located in front of the majestic peaks of the “Sextener” mountains. The Val Fiscalina is part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage and the door to the Three Peaks Nature Park. The Rifugio as open all year around for food, drinks and even for overnight stays.
I would recommend to hike up some meters of the path behind the Rifugio, leading further into the valley. This small “detour” is absolutely worth it – even if you do not want to do the complete way up to the famous mountain side of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
As the path gains quite some meters of altitude behind the Talschlusshütte, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Fischleintal – even if you just hike some more meters.
